Popular among tourists Siem Reap
In the morning, at the worst hotel ever, there was no electricity, so I couldn’t charge my phone or have any coffee. I was very angry and decided once and for all that Phnom Penh is the worst city!
I had some very tasty Ethiopian coffee in a nearby café and, after sending away the local tuk-tuk drivers who refused to take me for $1, I went with some small kind guy for $1.5 :)
I got on a bus that arrived almost on schedule and even had electric sockets, but I couldn’t work because the internet dropped just like my adapter from the outlet. However, I managed to charge my phone and arranged a free pickup from my new hostel :) Things were already looking up, and my mood improved a bit.
The farther we drove from the capital, the more beautiful the country’s nature became. It turned out there is a lot of greenery and rivers here.
I arrived in Siem Reap, where someone from the hotel met me and gave me a ride with a nice breeze. The room was wonderful: high ceiling, hot shower, clean space with air conditioning — I was happy :)
Feeling cheerful, I went for a walk and to get some food, and there was a night market full of all kinds of treats. I walked around the whole center and a bit more. Had some coffee and ate. Life was good again. Though there was one downside — everything here is much more expensive, even prices by the sea were lower. But that’s understandable, since this is a place of power and the most popular spot in all of Cambodia. Tomorrow I’ll go get tickets to the sacred ancient city of Angkor.
Fun fact: The temple complex of Angkor Wat is not only a symbol of Cambodia, featured on its national flag, but also the largest religious structure in the world. Its area exceeds 160 hectares — that’s larger than the Vatican!
